Overall score: 4.6/5.0
Overall: A very good cigar. Nice size. Complex flavor profile. This one is worth a box. With a year, these would be outstanding. Did not look like an oscuro.
Ambience: Lots of ambience tonight. After the president left
Seattle this morning at 8:30, the temporary flight restriction (TFR)
was lifted, and I headed to the airfield to make the short flight
to have the vacuum pump replaced (76S). After the pump replacement I
visited a favorite airport for a few landings and takeoffs, then
back to my home field (S43).
Clouds and haze moved in over the GPNW today. Still the temperature
reached the 80s. It's evening, the sun is above a cloud layer
close to the horizon. The haze to the west in the Olympic Mts. lights
up the valleys and every ridgeline is visible in relief - from near
to far, silhouetted in various shades of blue and purple against a
yellow and red sky. We live on a remarkable planet.
Construction: Double cap. Dark like a maduro though listed as
an oscuro. Medium veins and some tooth. Aroma is sweet, almost
perfumed.
Cut & Prelight: Remaining cap crumbled when cut. Good draw, some
spice on lips. sweet draw flavor.
First third: Definitely full flavored. Large volume of smoke.
Spicey with toasty undertone. Spicey finish. Some sweet toastiness
is developing in the finish under the spice. Ashed itself at 1".
Burn good.
Second third: Now leather in the fore taste and short after taste.
Still toasty in the long after taste.
Third third: Wow! Lots of flavors - cocoa, leasther, wood, toast.
Smoke volume is down a little. At 1.5" it got ashy, and was
abandoned at a few puffs later. A little nicotine buzz.
