Hype:       This chunky 6 1/2 x 54 Honduran torpedo is a cigar that gets little press, but is well deserving of serious accolades. It is named in honor of the famed Villazon cigarmaker Frank Llaneza (Ya-nay-za). The craftsmanship of this figurado is impeccable, its Ecuadorian wrapper is silky smooth and oily, and a full thirty-five count cabinet of these gems is quite a sight to behold. Not only do they look great, but they also smoke wonderfully. Their easy draw delivers thick mouthfuls of smoke with notes of wood and cedar and a slightly tangy finish. This vitola manages to be full of flavor while maintaining a medium strength that is easy on the palate. Without a doubt, I consider this to be one of the finest cigars made outside of Havana and a must try for all.  - Steve Saka Edition 13

Overall score:    3.3 /5.0

Overall:    A nice cigar.  Good smoke volume.  Nice open draw.  Even burn throughout.  Mostly cedar with initial green grass then leather.  Some spice near the end.  Bitterness increased at the nub.  Pleasant.  Would gladly smoke another, but not a box purchase at the price.

Ambience:   Early evening in the sunroom.  Dusk in about an hour.  The little woman is packing for the girls annual 3 week pilgrimage to Martha's Vinyard.  I am staying out of the way.  3 weeks with the seat up.  Working on a cigar review website.

Appearance: Slightly bumpy, slightly mottled, milk chocolate colored wrapper with medium veining, long pyramid taper, and light box press.  Firm along length, though feels light for its size.

Cut & Prelight:   Fragrant stick with cedar and a creamy leather.  Cut the taper at about the half inch point, yielding an open draw and a sweet, dry hay draw flavor.  Slight lip tingle.

First third:      Large smoke volume.  Initially cedar with a green grass edge.  Even burn.  Green grass is evolving into a sweetness in the aftertaste.  Very white gray-lined ash.  Ashed at 1".  Still mild flavor.

Second third:     Greenness is gone, replaced with a light spice.  Some leather now competing with the light cedar.  Aftertaste is strongly cedar.

Third third:      Some bittering, but not unpleasant.  Still mostly a cedary stick with some leather.  More spice, some ginger I think.  Abandoned at 1.5" due to heat and bitterness.
