Hype:       This brand is made under license from the famed luxery goods maker, S.T. Dupont.  A previous attempt at an S.T. Dupont brand, with cigars made in the Canary Islands debuted in 1999, but ultimately failed.  This blend was introduced in 2004 and is distributed by Cigars by Santa Clara and has a medium-bodied taste.  Expertly handcrafted in Santo Domingo, DR, the cigars exhibit a perfect draw and burn. Blended from tobaccos aged for three years, it is a medium-bodied cigar with a sophisticated flavor and refined aroma.

Overall:    Good smoke production, and an even burn.  After a bitter start mellows somewhat to a bitter-sweet leathery smoke.  Long very sweet, very nice finish.  Not bad.  Not a box purchase.

Ambiance:   Had this in the humi a little over 2 years.  Sitting in the sunroom in the evening learning about squid jigging.  See: http://www.squidfish.net/  Ordered some squid jigs (http://www.squidjig.com/) and am planning to try my hand some night next week from the Edmonds, WA public pier.

Appearance: Wide beige with gold lettering double bands on this short cigar.  Light even colored smooth wrapper with small veins and a very slight tooth and double cap.  Quite firm along length.

Cut & Prelight:   Sweet leathery aroma with some pepper in the nose and on the lips.

Cut well yielding a nice draw with a peppered fresh cardboard flavor.

First third:      Initially, bitter pepper.  Drying aftertaste.  Combined with the bitterness it could be described as astringent.  Dry paper.  Not a horrible combination with the slightly sweet beer.  I appear to have gotten the hiccups - the cigar?  Shit.  Bitterness and pepper has moderated to a sharp-edged leather.  Compact ash held to an inch.

Second third:     Sweetened in the aftertaste.  Not unpleasant.  Leathery with a bitter sweet edge, like that of the center of a peach stone.

Third third:      Picking up in flavor, and has sweetened further particularly in the after.  Abandoned at 1-1/2" - bored.
